报告摘要: The Cybersecurity Dynamics framework we initiated aims to build a systematic foundation for modeling, analyzing, and quantifying cybersecurity from a holistic perspective. The framework offers a systematic x-y-z-t “coordinate system” for investigating cybersecurity, where the x-axis represents first-principle modeling (analogous to Theoretical Physics research for understanding the Universe), the y-axis represents data analytics (analogous to Experimental Physics research for understanding the Universe), the z-axis represents metrics (analogous to defining notions such as Mass and Energy for understanding the Universe), and the t-axis represents time (meaning that everything evolves over time). The framework is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary in nature because it cuts across disciplines including Computer Science (including Security), Applied Mathematics (broadly defined, including Stochastic Processes, Dynamical Systems, Control Theory, Game Theory), Statistics, Machine Learning, Statistical Physics, Complexity Science, and Network Science. In this talk, I will review the Cybersecurity Dynamics framework and highlight some advancement in the x-axis (i.e., first-principle modeling) and future research directions. 报告人介绍 Shouhuai Xu is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Texas at San Antonio. He is the founding Director of the Laboratory for Cybersecurity Dynamics. He is interested in both theoretical and practical cybersecurity research. His research has been funded by AFOSR, ARL, ARO, NSF and ONR. He co-initiated the International Conference on Science of Cyber Security (http://www.sci-cs.net/), the first edition of which (SciSec’2018) will be held in Beijing, August 12-14, 2018. He also co-initiated the ACM Scalable Trusted Computing Workshop (ACM STC). He is/was a Program Committee co-chair of SciSec’18, ICICS’18, NSS’15 and Inscrypt’13. He has served on the Program Committees of numerous international conferences. He was/is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (IEEE TDSC), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (IEEE T-IFS), and IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering (IEEE TNSE). He received his PhD in Computer Science from Fudan University.
